![]() ![]() A vision statement sets the direction for a company’s future. Just like its mission statement, Volvo Group’s vision statement is also short and generic which does not successfully express the future the company envisions for itself. To be the most desired and successful transport solution provider in the world. Transport is not an end in itself, but rather a means allowing people to access what they need, economically and Transport supports growth, provides access for people and goods and modern transport solutions facilitate the increasing urbanization in a sustainable way. Our customers provide modern logistics as the base for our economic welfare. The Volvo Group’s mission statement expresses a broad ambition – to drive prosperity through transport solutions. However, here is how the Volvo Group expresses its mission in its own words: Volvo must try to make its mission statement more detailed and focused. However, the statement does not precisely express what type of transport solutions Volvo builds, how they help its target market or what is its competitive position compared to its rivals. It is clear from the statement that Volvo strives to build transport solutions that through their performance help the customers grow their productivity. Moreover, the mission statement of Volvo group is too generic and can be applied to nearly any automobile group that produces innovative mobility solutions for its customers. It does not adequately describe the purpose of the business. However, Volvo’s mission statement looks incomplete in this regard. They include several factors like target market, competitive position, financial position, and stakeholders among others. A mission statement expresses the purpose that a business exists for and good mission statements clearly express the central purpose of a business. The system, apparently, works in total anonymity. The mission statement of Volvo group is short and focuses mainly on its products and strategy. In reality, the Connected Safety works something like this: as soon as a car or a truck turns on the hazard lights, an alert is sent to all connected nearby vehicles, informing the drivers about a possible accident in the vicinity. Volvo Cars and Volvo Trucks partnered up in order to populate the system and create a critical mass of vehicles needed for the system to work. Obviously, this sounds a lot like the Internet of Things, but real-world applications could be incredibile. For now, the technology can report on slippery road conditions or activated hazard lights giving the drivers enough time to adapt their driving style or to prepare for the events ahead. Combining data from multiple sources gives the drivers an important edge when it comes to car safety. It is a cloud system which collects information from all connected Volvo and Volvo Trucks vehicles on the roads. Should the system detect erratic driving behavior, it will immediately sound an alarm.Ĭonnected Safety probably has the largest development potential. ![]() This technology debuted in 2007, but for the new S60 it uses a camera and various other sensors to asses the driver’s awareness. And, to keep the driver’s awareness at the peak, Volvo created the Driver Alert Control. So, while these technologies will most certainly help avoid emergency situations and possibly eradicate fatal collisions, the driver is still the one behind the wheel. Although impressive, Volvo is insistent that the driver bears the ultimate responsibility for driving. Obviously, all of these systems represent the next step in vehicle safety and complement Volvo's Vision 2020 plan. Large Animal Detection and Evasion Systemĭesigned to identify and evade large animals if needed Designed to warn the driver or, in the worst case scenario, activate the automatic braking after detecting pedestrians, cyclists, or large animals.ĭesigned to avoid or mitigate collisions with oncoming vehicles at intersections.ĭesigned to assist drivers during evasive actions in emergency situations by braking the inner wheel, aiding steering, and then braking the outer wheel to help straighten the vehicle. ![]()
